WINC is the regional
forum of neighbourhood and community centres in the Central West
and Orana Far West regions of NSW. It is an incorporated body, which
receives a small grant from the Department of Community Services
in order to facilitate training, and travel to regional meetings.
Membership is open to any not-for-profit community development
organisation or project.
Meetings help to facilitate:
• Networking among centres
• Information sharing
• Mutual Support
• Resourcing new workers
• Lobbying on common issues
• Providing a regional focus
• Representation to LSCA at State
Level
• Provide training and Professional Development
WINC usually meets four or five times per year, at different centres
throughout the regions on a rotation basis. One of these meetings
is a two day conference to address training, professional development
and planning issues. Travel to WINC Meetings is reimbursed at the
SACS Award standard rate.
WINC
member organisations are usually also members of LCSA ( Local
Community Services Association), which is the Peak Body for Neighbourhood
Centres in NSW. LCSA represents over three hundred organizations
in NSW, and provides valuable support and resourcing to member
organisations.
LCSA
also provides a useful newsletter and organises a Conference,
which is usually held in Sydney in the third week of September.
WINC members are also encouraged to attend this conference which
is both informative and fun!
