The Lightning Ridge Neighbourhood Centre Inc is community based and governed by a community management committee and funded by NSW department of Human Services

The Lightning Ridge Neighbourhood Centre serves the towns of Lightning Ridge, Goodooga, Cumborah, and Angledool as well as the various opal fields including Grawin, Glengarry, Sheepyards and Coocoran.

The Lightning Ridge Neighbourhood Centre aims to:
Provide affirmative action for disadvantaged people
Provide information and advocacy support to individuals and groups
Refers consumers to other services & sources of assistance as appropriate
Provide information in a format that is easy to understand
Develop relevant information systems appropriate to the local community
Facilitate local networking

The Lightning Ridge Neighbourhood Centre provides:
Information Service
Referral Service
Food for families – a philanthropic food bank partner.
Emergency Relief vouchers (funded by FaHCSIA)
Electricity Assistance vouchers (funded by Dept of Water and Energy)
Art workshops – every Friday
Community Computers
Telephone books from around Australia- Local papers to peruse.
Community Library - Reference books and books to borrow
Volunteer Recruitment – interaction and Learning Skills
Welcome drop in area – have a cuppa.
